Divided into 14 chapters, this textbook is aimed for students who are competent with elementary, intermediate and pre-advanced level Japanese (approximately JLPT Level 2 or above), daily conversational Japanese; and for those who want to specialize in humanities in universities in Japan. Written for both the Japanese or international student, this book also serves as an invaluable resource for understanding cross-cultural differences between Japan and the rest of the world.

Each chapter is divided into the following: 2 pieces of texts written in a range of styles, listening drills (interviews, discussions, news reports and so on), writing exercises, grammar and vocabulary drills. By studying with this textbook, students will be able to equip themselves with a wealth of general knowledge of the inner-workings of the Japanese society; as well as advanced language skills to able to express themselves clearly and precisely, in Japanese.
